How can you delay your period?

If you are looking to delay your time of the month, there are many options that you can take. Here at the GP Service, we offer the period delay treatment ‘Norethisterone’. However, if you are looking for another treatment then you can book an appointment with one of our doctors to get the prescription you require.

How do period delay tablets work?

Period delay medications contain a synthetic version of the hormone progesterone. Progestogens are hormones that sustain the lining of the womb (uterus). Normally, at the time before a period there is a fall in the level of progestogen hormone in the body. Keeping your level of progesterone high with the synthetic hormone will delay your period. After you stop using the tablets you will get your period in 2-3 days. You can delay your period for up to 17 days using this medication.

You can get Norethisterone from the GP Service, and pick it up the same day from one of over 6000 UK pharmacies. To get this medication you must fill out an online assessment form, this is a standard procedure and will be checked over by our doctors. This ensures you are completely safe to use the medications you have requested. As some women are unable to take this treatment based on their medical history.

This medication will not work as a contraceptive. If you are currently taking contraceptives, then period delay tablets may be unsuitable. Talk to a pharmacist or one of our doctors to confirm this treatment will be effective for you.

If you would like any advice on this topic or any other health concern then talk to one of our registered doctors, with appointments available in just 30 minutes.
